On 12 November RoA President Serzh Sargsyan received the UN Resident Coordinator/ UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Consuelo Vidal who is completing her mission in the country.
The President of Armenia expressed gratitude to Ms. Vidal for her work during the last four years and implementation of development assistance programs in Armenia. Underscoring the vital importance of the activities implemented by various UN agencies, Serzh Sargsyan said, “This does not relate to the financial resources only: experience, engagement, and possibility to have a comparative framework are much more important.”
In her turn, Consuelo Vidal expressed gratitude for the UN/UNDP – Armenia excellent cooperation. She said that she is leaving with wonderful memories and would always remain Armenia’s friend.
The parties exchanged also views on regional disparities in Armenia and the issue of regions’ development, as well as discussed issues related to the census to be conducted in 2010. The UN Resident Coordinator /UNDP Resident Representative noted that even though the global financial and economic crisis has had a huge impact on Armenia, the social programs, however, have been maintained.
